Understanding the Cycles, Rhythms and Energetic Flows of A Woman

We live in a world that is filled with internal and external cycles. These include circadian rhythms, menstrual cycles, hormonal cycles, seasonal and nature cycles, moon cycles and more. However, as a society, we often ignore or go against these cycles, leading to a sense of discomfort and dis-ease. While both men and women are affected by these cycles, women are more sensitive to them. Unfortunately, we often do not show up in the world as cyclical-natured women but rather adopted the behavior and attitude of men. This differs from how women naturally operate. In this blog post, we dive deeper into the cycles, rhythms, and energetic flows of a woman.

Self Compassion As We Re-Learn Our Shifting Nature

Women are cyclical and flowing in nature. We cannot expect ourselves to be the same all month long, just as the waves and water shift and change. Holding expectations otherwise will lead to unnecessary self-judgment, shame, and criticism. Rewilding women through acknowledging their nature is the key. If you're feeling shame around not being "on" all the time or finding yourself shifting and changing throughout the month when you wish you were exactly the same or on top of your game at all times, it may be worth looking into the cycles and rhythms of being a woman. Hold yourself in compassion, knowing that you are working in a way that is exactly how you are designed.

Your System & Cycles Are Unique

Often as women in this world, we are taught to act like men. However, we are vastly different from men, and our systems and beings deserve to be treated as uniquely as they are. Efforts to take a more cyclical approach to work and life can lead to greater harmony and ease. It is important to recognize that certain times of the month are better suited for creativity, rest, reflection, while others are better for high-energy activities.

The Power In Befriending Your Cycles

The menstrual cycle is perhaps the most well-known and is a crucial part of a woman's natural rhythm. With different hormonal changes taking place, menstrual cycles affect women on all levels. Understanding these changes and phases and their potential impact on one’s life can lead to greater self-awareness and self-acceptance when navigating these shifts.

Looking deeper..

Our menstrual cycle is more than just a monthly period. It is a complex interplay of hormones that affect the various systems of our bodies, including our reproductive, digestive, and immune systems. Each phase of our cycle has a unique purpose and energy that we can tap into for our benefit. For example, during the follicular phase, our estrogen levels rise, and we may feel more energetic, creative, and social. Then in the ovulatory phase, when we are most fertile and may feel more confident and attractive. In contrast, during the luteal phase, our progesterone levels rise, and we may experience more mood swings, anxiety, and fatigue.

Additionally, looking into the energies of the seasonal cycles, the moon, and the elements can provide valuable insights and guidance.

Listen To The Innate Wisdom Of Your Body

Finally, listening to the body is essential. It has an innate wisdom that knows when it's time to slow down, take a break or move forward. It is important to establish regular self-care practices, honouring the body, and the different rhythms it goes through. This could be in the form of meditation, journalling, spending time in nature, or any activity you feel called to.

Remember….

Women naturally embody cycles, rhythms, and energetic flows. It is essential to recognise the innate wisdom of our bodies and work with these processes instead of against them. This can lead to greater harmony and ease in our lives. When we honour the different rhythms and cycles within ourselves, we begin to trust our inherent wisdom. Rewilding ourselves and returning to our natural, cyclical ways can help magic, power and ease return to our lives. We need to work collectively to support a more cyclical approach to work and life that embraces feminine cycles, rhythms and flows.
