Navigating The Healing Trap – Knowing When to Dig Deep and When to Rest
Navigating The Healing Trap – Knowing When to Dig Deep and When to Rest
Healing is a journey we all embark on at some point in our lives. When we're struggling with a problem, it's natural to search for solutions and seek meaning in our experiences. However, the constant quest for answers can create a barrier to true healing. This is what is referred to as the "healing trap." In this blog post, we'll explore the healing trap and how to navigate your journey of self-discovery without getting caught up in the cycle of "self-improvement."
When It Time To Embrace Acceptance
The first thing to understand about the healing trap is that constantly searching for meaning keeps you in the energy of lack. It creates a sense that there is always something missing, something to fix or heal. This can lead to a never-ending cycle of self-help that can leave you feeling drained, overwhelmed, and frustrated. It's important to recognise that sometimes things just are – they don't require fixing or healing – and that's okay. Healing journeys generally take common stages. The first stage when you become aware of your wounds and work in healing and shifting them and then the next stage when you’ve done the healing and your living life and noticing that yeah, sometimes shit happens! But it doesn’t mean we need to dive deep and uncover a wound and do more and more processing. Sometimes we just gotta live!
Sometimes It Is Our Avoidance, Sometimes It Is Our Inner Wisdom
Another important component of healing is integrating the wisdom to know when to search and when to rest in what is. Sometimes it is our avoidance to issues that refrain us from diving deep and sometimes it is our inner wisdom knowing we need to create space to integrate or the specific issue does not require deep processing. If you are having difficulty deciphering the difference perhaps you would benefit from reaching out to a practitioner to guide you. Learning to decipher this is a muscle and reaching out for support to develop this can be extremely beneficial. We all have a natural inclination to seek answers, but it's equally important to learn when to let go and be present with what is. This balance of these two aspects is when true healing integrates, and we are not stuck in a cycle of searching that keeps us in the myth of lack and endless self-improvement.
Your Journey Is Unique
It's also important to recognise that there's no one-size-fits-all approach to healing. What works for one person might not be effective for someone else. The healing journey is unique to each individual, and only you can determine what's right for you. It's essential to listen to your intuition and trust your inner guidance when seeking answers and solutions.
Enjoy Life
When you're caught up in the healing trap, it's easy to become so focused on your problems that you forget to enjoy life. However, joy and happiness are powerful tools for healing. When you're able to find joy in the present moment, you're creating a positive energy that can help shift your perspective and allow you to see things from a different point of view. It's important to take time to do the things that bring you joy and allow yourself to be fully present in those moments.
It’s a Journey, Not a Destination
Finally, it's important to remember that healing is a journey, not a destination. It’s not about racing to a destination where you finally “arrive” at total peace or healing. Instead, it's a constant process of growth and evolution. When we focus on progress rather than perfection, we can appreciate the small yet magical wins along the way and stay motivated on our journey.
Remember…
In conclusion, the healing trap is something we all need to be aware of in our journey of self-discovery. It's crucial to find the balance between searching and resting in what is, to listen to our intuition, find joy in the present moment, and focus on progress rather than perfection. When we're able to do this, we create a healthy foundation for true healing to take place.
Remember, healing is a process, and that is okay! There is no such thing as perfection, so don’t be tempted in seeking it. We are all perfect in all our imperfections and flaws. Healing isn’t about becoming a completely healed, perfect being - it’s about releasing the patterns and beliefs that are shielding us from our own light and having self-compassion and fun along the way. So, take things one step at a time and trust the journey.
