The Real Purpose of Inner Work: How to Move Through Fear & Pain in an Empowered Way
The Real Purpose of Inner Work & How to Move Through Fear & Pain in an Empowered Way
In our never-ending pursuit of happiness, many of us fall into the trap of believing that the purpose of inner work is to eradicate all negative emotions from our lives. We convince ourselves that if we just meditate enough, or do enough yoga, or read enough self-help books, we'll somehow sail off into a blissful, pain-free existence. But the truth is, negative emotions are a natural and necessary part of the human experience. Experiencing fear and pain is not something to be avoided, but rather embraced and used as an opportunity for growth and self-discovery. In this blog post, we'll explore the true purpose of inner work and how it can help you move through fear and pain in an empowered way.
Inner Harmony
The first step towards moving through fear and pain in an empowered way is to cultivate inner harmony. This involves acknowledging and accepting all aspects of yourself - the good, the bad, and the ugly. It means embracing your shadow, the parts of yourself that you may not like or want to acknowledge. It's also important to create a safe space within yourself, a place where you can feel grounded and centered no matter what challenges life may bring. When you have inner harmony, you'll be less likely to be dragged down by negative emotions and will have a solid foundation from which to approach difficult situations. There are multiple modalities I call on to cultivate inner harmony within clients and have found them to be incredibly powerful - amongst these are Akashic Record work, soul retrieval and parts work.
Developing Self-Trust
This means learning to trust your own instincts and intuition, even when they may be telling you to do something that feels scary or uncomfortable. It also means learning to trust that you have the strength and resilience to move through challenging times. When you have self-trust, you'll be less likely to rely on external validation or approval to feel good about yourself. Instead, you'll be able to stand in your own power and make decisions that are aligned with your own values and needs.
Holding Space
As you cultivate inner harmony and self-trust, you'll be better equipped to hold space for yourself when you're experiencing fear and pain. Holding space means being present with your emotions, without judgment or criticism. It means acknowledging that what you're feeling is valid and important, and allowing yourself to experience those emotions fully. When you hold space for yourself, you're giving yourself the gift of compassion and self-love.
Empowerment
The ultimate result of true inner work is empowerment. When you have inner harmony, self-trust, and the ability to hold space for yourself, you'll be better able to navigate life's challenges with confidence and self-connection. You'll be less likely to be derailed by negative emotions and more able to make decisions that are aligned with your goals and values. You'll also be better equipped to handle difficult situations with others, whether that's in your personal relationships or in your professional life. True empowerment comes from within, and it's a gift that you can give to yourself through the practice of inner work.
Avoidance vs. Connection
Ultimately, the difference between someone who avoids negative emotions and someone who embraces them is the difference between disconnection and connection. When we avoid negative emotions, we're cutting ourselves off from an important part of the human experience. We're also cutting ourselves off from the opportunity to connect with others on a deeper level. When we embrace negative emotions, on the other hand, we're opening ourselves up to vulnerability and connection. We're also giving ourselves the gift of growth and self-discovery.
Remember…
In our lives, we will inevitably experience fear and pain. But with the practice of true inner work, we can learn to move through these experiences in an empowered way. This means cultivating inner harmony, developing self-trust, holding space for ourselves, and ultimately, experiencing the gift of empowerment. By embracing negative emotions instead of avoiding them, we're opening ourselves up to deeper connections with ourselves and others. The purpose of inner work is not to eradicate negative emotions, but rather to learn how to move through them with grace and self-love.
