Rebuilding Self Trust: A Practice in Coming Home to Yourself

Something I've witnessed is, many of the women who arrive in my practice carry a clarity that's almost tangible. They are attuned to the subtle shifts in a room. Notices what others need often before they do. Their sensitivity runs deep - the kind that makes them a natural healer, a steadying presence, someone people trust with their tender places.

They move through the world with this awareness so finely tuned that somewhere along the way, their attention learned to focus almost entirely outward.

They are considerate. Careful. Aware of impact. Their caring runs deep. But there's something else living underneath that same depth - something they learned a long time ago.

It's not safe to trust their own needs and inner knowing above the needs and opinions of others.

And here's what I want to say first, if you can resonate and see yourself in this too, before we go any deeper: that part of you that learned not to trust yourself? She deserves your compassion. Not your judgment or your frustration. Your tenderness.

She was trying her best to protect you.

How we learn not to trust ourselves

Self trust doesn't disappear by accident. It erodes through a thousand small moments where you learn that your inner knowing isn't safe to rely on - and where no one quite holds your needs safely enough that you can rest in them.

Maybe it was a parent who needed you to be the stable one. So your own instability, your own needs, became something to hide. The part of you that was struggling learned to disappear so the adult could feel okay.

Maybe it was a sibling who needed you more than you needed yourself. So your own falling apart became a threat. The part of you with needs learned to shrink.

Maybe it was a community that benefited from your attention being turned outward. So turning inward felt like betrayal. The part of you that wanted to listen to yourself learned to feel guilty.

Maybe it was simply that no one around you modelled what it looked like to trust your own knowing and stay connected to others. So you learned that choosing yourself meant losing people. That your inner voice was a lonely place.

The reasons are as varied as the women themselves. But the pattern is consistent.

And here's what is most important: none of this was your fault. Often these patterns begin in childhood. You were doing what children do - learning how to stay safe, how to belong, how to be loved. Your nervous system was making the most intelligent choice available to it at the time.

So when you notice that you don't trust your own inner knowing, the first movement isn't to fix it or judge it. It's to meet that part of you with gentleness. To say: I see why you learned that. I understand. And I am with you now.

The weight of not trusting yourself

When you don't trust your own inner knowing, you live in a state of constant checking. You're always scanning - checking other people's faces for clues about what they need, checking their opinions for permission to trust yourself, checking external sources for reassurance that you're doing it right.

Your nervous system is never quite settled because you're never actually in yourself. You're outside yourself, perpetually seeking evidence that your own knowing might be trustworthy.

You say yes when you mean no - but not because you're trying to be nice (although you are). You say yes because you don't trust that your no is valid enough to stand on. And somewhere deep, you're still waiting for someone to tell you it's okay to have boundaries.

You soften your boundaries to keep the peace - not because you're weak, but because you don't trust that your boundary matters more than someone else's comfort. The old learning runs deep: your needs are too much.

You second guess your intuition because it conflicts with someone else's expectations or you learned trusting your own voice wasn't safe - not because you're indecisive, but because you don't trust that what you're sensing is real or true or worth acting on. You've learned to treat your own knowing like it's unreliable.

You feel guilty for having needs at all - not because you're selfish, but because deep down, you don't trust that your needs matter as much as anyone else's or that anyone will hold them safely if you speak them.

Over time, this creates:

  • Chronic anxiety (because you're always seeking external reassurance instead of trusting within)

  • Decision paralysis (because you can't access your own knowing)

  • Resentment (because you're constantly overriding yourself)

  • Disconnection from your body (because you've learned to ignore its signals)

  • Exhaustion (because trusting everyone else's guidance is exhausting work)

  • A vague sense of not-enoughness (because you're living according to someone else's blueprint)

And what is often the hardest part? You often judge yourself for all of it. You think you should be able to trust yourself by now. You think there's something wrong with you that you can't just decide to have better boundaries. You might think you're flawed in some fundamental way.

But here's what I know: You are not flawed. You're protected. Your deeper system learned a brilliant strategy to keep you safe and loved. And now - when you're ready - we can gently teach it that it's safe to trust yourself.

That starts with compassion for the part of you that learned not to.

What LIstening within actually means

Real self trust isn't built through belief alone. It's built through repeated experiences of your inner knowing being right and through learning that it's safe to act on what you know.

But before we get there, we need to understand what listening within actually is.

It's not positive thinking, it's not forcing yourself to believe in yourself when you don't and it's not overriding your fears or pretending you're more confident than you feel.

Listening within is an act of turning toward yourself with curiosity and care. It's asking: What am I sensing right now? What does my body and heart know? What do I actually want, separate from what I think I should want?

And then - this is the part that changes everything - it's meeting whatever you find with compassion instead of judgment - with listening, instead of fixing.

When you notice you're about to say yes when you mean no, you don't criticise yourself. You pause and ask: What am I protecting by saying yes? What am I afraid will happen if I say no? And you listen to the answer with gentleness. And in that moment, you're also honouring the person you're with - because your genuine yes becomes possible.

When you feel the urge to soften your boundary, you don't shame yourself. You notice: What am I sensing right now? What part of me is scared? And you let that part know: I hear you and I am with you now.

When your intuition conflicts with someone else's opinion, you don't dismiss it. You turn toward it and you create space for that knowing to be real and true, even if it's uncomfortable.

This work is at the foundation of my Inner Healing & Integration Sessions and it's the foundation of rebuilding self trust. Because when you turn toward yourself with curiosity instead of criticism, something shifts at the deeper system level. These sessions weave Inner Relationship Focusing & Aaruka Healing to support the parts of you that have learned to protect through disconnection - meeting them not with force, but with the presence and compassion.

Through this you begin to feel like a safe place to come home to.

What changes when you rebuild this connection

There is something deeply healing about turning your attention inward and trusting what you find there. Not blindly, not without wisdom. But with genuine respect for your own inner knowing - and with compassion for the part of you that learned not to trust it.

When you begin to listen within - really listen, with gentleness instead of judgment - something shifts at the deeper system level.

What unfolds over time:

  • You notice what you actually want, separate from what's expected of you. Not because you suddenly become selfish, but because you finally trust that your wanting is information worth listening to. And that wanting doesn't make you bad - it makes you human.

  • You feel the difference between a genuine yes and an obligatory one. You recognise when you're about to override yourself and you can pause, come back, choose differently. Your nervous system begins to regulate because you're no longer in constant override.

  • Your boundaries become clearer because they're rooted in self trust. You can hold a boundary and be compassionate because you trust that your boundary is real information about what you need. And you don't have to apologise for having needs.

  • You find yourself less resentful because you're not abandoning yourself anymore. When you're not silently seething about unspoken needs, when you're not swallowing your own knowing to keep someone else comfortable, the bitterness that builds from constant self betrayal starts to dissolve.

  • You feel more relaxed and content around people you care about. Not because anything external changed, but because you're actually there with them now. You have more access to your inner being, which means you're not constantly checking external signals to know how to be.

  • You notice you're less agitated. The low level irritation that lives under the surface when you're always managing other people's needs and emotions - that begins to ease.

  • The constant need for external validation starts to ease. Decisions become clearer because you're checking in with yourself instead of everyone else.

  • Old beliefs about what you “should” want or need begin to loosen their grip.

  • Triggers and spirals resolve more quickly - or don't arise at all. You respond to life with presence instead of reacting from old patterns.

  • Change unfolds naturally, without force or pressure. Relationships shift because you're no longer sacrificing yourself to keep them safe. You can care for others and care for yourself - not instead of, but alongside.

This isn't about becoming a different person. It's about coming home to yourself. It's about remembering that your inner knowing was never actually untrustworthy - you just learned to treat it as if it was. And meeting that learning with compassion is how we unwind it.

Ready to go deeper?

If you're ready to come home to yourself and explore this at the depth where things truly shift - where you're not just understanding the pattern but actually feeling different in your body and your life - I'd love to work with you.

Soul Essence Reading

Your soul has a unique blueprint. Understanding it - your gifts, your natural strengths, the way your soul is wired to move through the world - creates the foundation. This reading offers clarity on who you actually are beneath the layers of conditioning and expectation, allowing you to return to who you naturally are with greater compassion and understanding.

Soul Awakening Reading

Your soul's unique blueprint holds your gifts, your natural strengths, the way your soul is wired to move through the world. There is something deeply healing about finally having language for experiences you've carried your whole life. Not because the challenge suddenly disappears, but because you're no longer fighting yourself. Instead, you're able to work with your own nature rather than against it.

From there, we explore soul lessons, significant themes unfolding throughout this lifetime, core woundings and the deeper experiences your soul is currently navigating. We move into Past Life Blocks - the energetic roots holding current struggles in place. As the root becomes understood, something begins to soften, understanding grows, energy begins to move.

The clearing process that follows invites you into active participation in your own healing. Over the days following your reading, you work with what has been revealed and gently clear what is ready to be released. Many clients tell me this is the most empowering part because they aren't relying on someone else to create change. They're experiencing the shifts they've created within themselves.

For me, this is what makes the Akasha so profound. It's about helping you understand yourself so deeply that different ways of relating to yourself, your experiences and your life naturally become available. As your relationship with yourself changes, your future changes too.

Inner Healing & Integration Sessions

The work is on-going and relational. Change isn't forced - it emerges as your system feels supported enough to let go. This is a space that meets you where you are, and helps you move forward with more ease.

What brings people here:

Everyone arrives with different intentions. You might be navigating emotional overwhelm, self criticism, relational triggers, body disconnection, emotional eating, or a sense of being stuck in patterns you understand but can't seem to shift.

These sessions are especially supportive if you're seeking:

  • Relief from looping emotional patterns or internal pressure

  • Support with emotional eating or body based habits

  • A calmer, more regulated inner experience

  • Greater trust in yourself and your choices

  • Clarity where confusion or conflict has been present

  • Change that holds, rather than fleeting breakthroughs

This work often begins where talk based approaches and mindset tools reach their limits.

The approaches we draw from:

Aaruka Healing — A subconscious healing approach that safely accesses the theta brainwave state to process stored memories, release limiting beliefs, and allow the deeper system to unwind patterns held at their root.

Inner Relationship Focusing (IRF) — A body centred practice of turning toward the parts of yourself that are hurting or afraid, and meeting them with curiosity and warmth rather than pushing them away - creating space for lasting change from this place.

Intuitive Guidance — Woven throughout the work - the capacity to sense what's most alive or ready in a session, and follow that thread with care.

What people often notice over time:

  • Emotional eating becoming less charged and easier to navigate

  • Triggers or spirals resolving more quickly - or not arising at all

  • Old beliefs loosening their grip, with new options feeling possible

  • A steadier, more regulated experience in the body

  • Clearer boundaries and more self directed choices

  • Responding to life with presence, rather than reacting from old patterns

  • Change unfolding naturally, without force or pressure

Each session meets you exactly where you are, and gently engages the layers that are ready to shift. This means we're not just talking about the pattern - we're working with what's driving it, allowing change to be felt and embodied.
